The IBPS PO Online Exam Pattern will be held in two phases, i.e. Online Preliminary and Online Main. A candidate who will qualify in Online Preliminary examination and shortlisted will have to appear for an Online Main examination. Therefore shortlisted candidate in the Online Main examination will subsequently be called for a Common Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations and co-ordinated by the Nodal Bank.
Later, shortlisted candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisations keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, administrative convenience, etc.
An employee who is newly recruited as an officer at an entry-level position or a junior level cader is called PO. PO has to serve a probationary period for at least 2 years, during which he/she undergoes training in handling various roles, responsibilities and functions in different departments of a particular bank.
After the completion of the probationary period, PO would be designated Assistant Manager.
The PO would be assigned to work in several departments based on the directions of the senior manager. Handling General banking and bank administration would be the prominent role of a PO. In order to supervise various issues, PO is expected to have good communication skills and ability to resolve conflicts. Following are some of the major responsibilities of a Probationary Officer:
Customer Service: Ensuring service to customer forms a vital part of service. Thus, a PO who is into the designated post should provide the necessary information with complete details. For instance, information about opening a new account, deposits, ATM cards, loans, chequebooks, receipts, discrepancies in accounts, rectification of undue charges etc.,
Promoting Business: Fetching new business by promoting bank products to enhance customer list is a vital responsibility. For eg: Handling fixed Deposits, insurance policies, Credit cards, Mutual funds etc. PO may also be responsible to meet the set targets or deadlines.
Cash Flow: Cash disbursal and collection of cash are generally done by the cashier. PO has to take charge of cash transactions during increase inflow of customers or clerk’s absence. PO will also be trained with software skills to make the transactions easy and fast.
Clearing Payments: Payment clearance through cheques, DD, NEFT and RTGS need to clear by the PO when it is beyond a certain amount.
Verification of Reports: It is a work =done at the end of the day wherein PO has to look into core banking and check all the reports of the day. In this case, PO has to generate the reports of transactions of the day without mismatch. Report verification include deposits, withdrawals, ledger balance, etc.
Official Communication: PO may also be in charge of answering all the official emails. Thus, the PO does not have any specific job description instead required to get acquainted with all the job roles during the probation period.
IBPS has revised the basic pay of IBPS PO to Rs. 36,000 with a 4 stage increment. As per the latest updates, the IBPS PO Gross Salary stands at Rs. 57,289 while the IBPS PO NET Salary is around Rs. 52,630 post deductions.
In all, an IBPS Probationary Officer will be drawing an approximate salary of Rs. 52,000 to 53,000 a month (depends on location).
Candidate must fulfil one of the following criteria:
Should be a citizen of India OR
Must be subject of Nepal or Bhutan OR
Should be a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India OR
Should be a person of Indian origin who has migrated from other countries (Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam) with the intention of permanently settling in India
