CLAT is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities, comprising representative universities. Several affiliates universities and organisations also use the CLAT exam for admissions and recruitment respectively.
Till 2018, CLAT was conducted on a rotation basis by NLUs. However, from 2019 onwards the CLAT will be conducted by a permanent body, ”Consortium of NLUs” formed by NLUs. The body has its headquarters at NLSIU Bangalore.
All the admissions to the 5-year integrated LL.B and LL.M. Programmes that commences in the Academic Year 2023-2024, Shall be through the CLAT 2023.

CLAT – The COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST is a national level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities in India. Candidates who qualify in CLAT Exam and Stand above the cutoff can seek admissions to the courses mentioned below at 22 NLUs in India.

1. There is be no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2023.
2. Candidates must secure the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination).
a. Forty Five Percent (45%) Marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PwD / NRI / PIO / OCI / Categories.
b. Forty Percent (40%) Marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST Candidates.
3. Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March / April, 2023 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT 2023 Examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
4. The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course they have applied for.
Common Law Admission Test – CLAT 2023 : Candidates who are seeking admission to law courses in the NLUs and other private universities should register online through the official website of CLAT. Here are the steps to CLAT application form online.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the ‘Register’
Step 3: Fill in the basic details such as name, mobile number and email address.
Step 4: Upload the required documents that include the photograph and signature.
Step 5: Complete all the mandatory fields in the CLAT application form such as qualification and preference for NLUs.
Step 6: Pay the prescribed CLAT application fee
Step 7: Submit the application form
Step 8: Download the soft copy and take a printout for future reference.

The CLAT will be conducted in offline mode. It is an objective-paper and the total duration is two hours. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark and 0.25 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer. The examination will be conducted in English language only.

Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) Patna issues the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) online application form for the year 2023. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India law entrance examination conducted by 14 National Law Schools / Universities for admissions to their undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes (LL.B and LL.M)
CLAT 2023 Online Application form Procedure:
Candidates have to apply online to the CLAT website.
Candidates must create an account on the CLAT website.
CLAT-2023 Information Brochure (not the application form) will also be accessible from the respective website of all the participating NLUs.
Candidates are advised to read the instructions before filling the application form.
A candidate will have to make payment on three occasions through CLAT website viz, (i) submitting the Online Application Form (ii) if interested in downloading the Previous Year’s Question papers and (iii) while participating in the counselling session.
The mode of payment through the website is both online and offline.
The online payment can be made through net-banking, debit card, credit card, etc. Wherein the candidate will have to bear the additional transaction costs for remitting the fees through payment gateways.
For paying the fees offline through the website, the candidate will have to download the ‘Bank Challan’ that will be generated with the required information, as filled in by the candidate, and make the payment with additional bank charges at any branch of the SBI. After making the requisite payment at the bank, the candidate needs to upload the scanned PDF copy of the ‘Bank Challan’ and also fill in the details as required by the relevant section of the website
